April 11, 2011 - Home Trust and DC Solar Announce Financing Arrangement for Renewable Energy Project

Clean energy relationship formed to finance large scale solar rooftop installations in Ontario

Home Trust Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Home Capital Group Inc. (TSX:HCG), and DC Solar Power Corp. today announced that Home Trust will be providing financing for DC Solar’s first large scale rooftop solar installation. Home Trust and DC Solar have come together to bring a proven and reliable renewable energy solution to the emerging solar market in Ontario under the Ontario Power Authority’s (OPA) Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) Program. Ontario’s FIT Program - part of the Green Energy Act - is North America’s first comprehensive guaranteed pricing structure for renewable electricity production. DC Solar’s highly reputable and experienced team is deploying professionally operated and optimally maintained rooftop solar installations, benefiting owners of commercial, retail, educational, and other government buildings across the province. DC Solar, an innovative, Ontario-based developer and operator of turnkey rooftop solar installations announced that its first large scale solar rooftop project officially achieved OPA-certified Commercial Operation in January 2011. Home Trust is providing financing for this flagship project, located in Vaughan. The project is the first privately-owned 250 kW solar generation rooftop system in PowerStream’s service area, and the second of this scale in Ontario to achieve Commercial Operation. A total of 1,222 solar panels covering 42,000 square feet of roof top were installed by the DC Solar team. The system will generate a total of about 310,000 kWh of renewable energy to be fed back into the grid – representing enough electricity each year to power over 30 homes.

“Home Trust expects that rooftop solar energy will play a major role in Ontario’s renewable energy future, and we are pleased to be associated with DC Solar, a leading solar developer, to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the province. Together we share a corporate commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability,” said Gerald M. Soloway, Chief Executive Officer of Home Trust.

“We are delighted to announce this exciting relationship between market leaders, which brings together our solar industry expertise with the financial support of Home Trust,” commented Howard Lis, President of DC Solar. “The strength of this association provides additional comfort and assurance that we stand by our installations, both operationally and financially”.

Building owners can now take advantage of unused real estate on their roofs to generate a new source of rental income for 20 years with no capital outlay, while playing an important role in providing Ontario communities with clean renewable energy. “As a turnkey system provider, we own and take complete responsibility for the operation and maintenance of our rooftop solar installations, and guarantee building owners competitive rental rates,” said Dani Cohen, Founder & CEO of DC Solar. In addition, DC Solar partners with building owners that want to invest in solar projects on their roofs.

February 1, 2011 - OPA certifies Commercial Operation of first 250 kW rooftop project

DC Solar Power Corp., an innovative, Ontario-based developer and operator of turnkey rooftop solar installations today announced that its first large scale solar rooftop project has officially achieved Commercial Operation under the OPA’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program. This flagship project, located at 7700 Keele Street, is the first privately-owned 250 kW solar rooftop system generating renewable energy in PowerStream’s service area. With the completion of this project, DC Solar has installed and owns what is believed to be one of the first large scale rooftop solar FIT projects in the province. A total of 1,222 solar panels covering 40,000 square feet of roof top were installed by the DC Solar team. The system will generate a total of about 310,000 kWh of renewable energy to be fed back into the grid via the local distribution company PowerStream – this represents enough electricity each year to power over 30 homes. “We are pleased to reach this exciting milestone in the evolution of our company. In support of the Green Energy Act, we are proud to be generating clean, renewable power that will feed the community of Vaughan where our head office is located”, commented Howard Lis, President of DC Solar. “The strength of our talented team provides additional comfort and assurance to our customers that we stand by our installations, both operationally and financially”.

March 10, 2010 - Contracts Approved by OPA for Five Solar Rooftop Installations

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) today granted approval to DC Solar Power Corp. for five solar PV rooftop system applications that were previously submitted under the province’s Feed-In Tariff (FIT) Program. DC Solar has received contracts from the OPA for its initial five Ontario solar rooftop installations, each of which is targeted to have a capacity of 250 kW.

"We are delighted to be part of the first wave of green energy projects approved by the OPA under the FIT program", commented Howard Lis, President of DC Solar Power Corp. "The DC Solar team is proud to be directly involved in the adoption of renewable energy in Ontario, as we work with the owners of these five properties to deliver high quality and reliable rooftop solar installations". The FIT program’s domestic content requirements require that a substantial portion of the technology and services used in renewable energy generation comes from Ontario. As a turnkey rooftop solar systems developer, DC Solar takes responsibility for all aspects of a project - this includes all funding, engineering, procurement, construction, monitoring and maintenance for the life of the system, in addition to ensuring the system meets the Ontario domestic content requirements.

November 30, 2009 - Solar PV System Applications Submitted under Ontario’s new Feed-In Tariff Program

DC Solar Power Corp. today announced that it has submitted five applications for solar photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) under the recently launched Feed-In Tariff program. In October 2009, the government of Ontario introduced a Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program based on the province’s new Green Energy and Green Economy Act that was passed into law in May 2009. Ontario’s FIT program is North America’s first comprehensive guaranteed pricing structure for renewable electricity production. Under the FIT program, the OPA can enter into 20-year contracts to purchase electricity from generators of solar power.

The five applications were submitted in advance of the first application deadline for the FIT program, and DC Solar expects to receive a response from the OPA early in the spring of 2010. The projects are for rooftop solar systems, and would represent the first five installations for the company in Ontario.
